Patrick Hynes focuses his practice on government relations. Prior to joining Messerli & Kramer in 2015, Patrick spent four years as Intergovernmental Relations Counsel to the League of Minnesota Cities representing city interests in a wide variety of legal and policy issues including data practices, tax increment financing (TIF), economic development and housing, and civil liability.
Patrick also served in the Minnesota Senate for six years in a number of key positions, including policy advisor to the Senate Majority Leader. As a private practice attorney, he represented numerous clients in complex construction defect litigation, and provided legal advice and counsel to small businesses, individuals, and local units of government. All told, Patrick brings over 15 years of legislative, lobbying, and private practice experience to his clients.
Patrick enjoys learning the details of his clients’ businesses and organizations, and working with them to achieve their goals, whether they relate to specifically to the Legislature or to the overall success of the organization. He believes that a strong government relations practice is inextricably linked to successful businesses.
