Business Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant

Messerli Kramer is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to work in our Business Litigation practice group in our Minneapolis office. You will be a part of reputable team dedicated to providing a full range of legal administrative support to the assignments in a timely and efficient manner.

General Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents and correspondence

  • Assemble and file documents electronically through Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) for a variety of district, state and appellate courts

  • Frequently correspond with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses and court personnel

  • Enter time on behalf of assigned timekeepers, process payment requests, and coordinate the client billing process

  • Maintain client files and contact information

  • Schedule meetings, conference calls, depositions, court hearings, and travel arrangements

  • Proactively ensure the legal team is prepared with necessary materials for meetings, depositions, hearings, trials, etc.

  • Open, review and direct mail

  • Other administrative tasks, as assigned

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Positive and professional demeanor

  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities with competing deadlines


  • 5+ years of legal administrative experience; Business Litigation experience strongly preferred

  • Minimum of high school graduation, Business school or related professional legal secretarial degree preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook

  • Proficiency in ECF on both state and federal levels

  • Proven ability to manage multiple calendars, including docketing of court deadlines
