ST. PAUL– Messerli Kramer is thrilled to announce the addition of Craig Sondag to its Government Affairs team. Sondag arrives at MK after a lengthy career at the Capitol, serving in the Minnesota Senate as Chief of Staff to the Senate Republicans in both majority and minority sessions, working with three different caucus leaders in the process.
“This is a big addition for us,” said Patrick Hynes, Chair of Government Affairs. “In the lobbying world, you don’t get opportunities like this very often. Any time you have the chance to bring on someone with the first-hand, top-down experience that Craig brings to the table, you start getting really excited about the opportunities to help more clients and expand our offerings.”
Sondag previously served in the Minnesota Senate from 2003 to 2014, starting as a Legislative Assistant and eventually working his way up to the Legislative Support Supervisor of the Minority Caucus. Between Senate stints, Sondag was a Government Relations Manager for Allianz Life, working in a bipartisan basis at the state and federal level to advance the company’s public policy objectives.
“Craig is a strategic thinker, gifted communicator and hard worker,” said Katy Sen, Lobbyist Principal with the Government Affairs group. “He leads with integrity and is respected by members on both sides of the aisle. Craig will be an incredible asset to the Messerli Kramer team.”
As part of the government relations group, Sondag will continue Messerli Kramer’s legacy of providing unmatched client services for many of Minnesota’s most well-known brands and organizations.
“I’m ready for the next chapter in helping Minnesotans and the businesses that serve as the backbone of our economy,” said Sondag. “I couldn’t be more grateful for the time I spent in the Minnesota Senate and the opportunities afforded to me, and I’m excited to continue those relationships in a new way that continues to help move our great state forward.”
