While the dealings of the Legislature generally garner the greatest amount of media attention, the work of Minnesota’s regulatory agencies is equally important to our clients. A seemingly innocuous change to a state rule or regulation can have significant, adverse consequences on an organization’s operations. Messerli Kramer’s Government Relations team diligently tracks the activities of these agencies to respond to our clients on a moment’s notice. We provide input to regulators on the front end, respond to formal and informal changes in rules, policies, and practices, and if necessary, resolve regulatory disputes at the Legislature.

Representative Experience

• Spearheaded a response to a Department of Commerce Administrative Bulletin that could have had a devastating impact to a client’s operations in Minnesota. The Administrative Bulletin was ultimately withdrawn by the Department.

• Secured passage of special legislation on behalf of a local unit of government to ensure compliance with federal Housing and Urban Development regulations.
