Profile

John Beattie is a shareholder in Messerli Kramer’s Corporate group. With 40 years of private practice experience, he has the broad knowledge needed to advise companies, shareholders and individuals about the legal implications of their business decisions—guiding business owners and managers through organizational, regulatory, and financial matters.

Prior to private practice, John clerked for the Honorable Miles W. Lord, United States District Judge for the United States District Court in the District of Minnesota with graduate academics in administrative and securities law from The George Washington University School of Law.

John has a long history as a leader on civic, corporate and educational boards and serves as a council member for the City of Excelsior in Minnesota. These activities have helped him be an effective advocate and counselor for his clients.   • Represented multi-disciplinary independent practice group in its organization and contract matters with BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota.

  • Represented seller of large commercial industry building in Minnesota, valued at $40 million.

  • Represented buyer of large FedEx distribution center in Denver, CO; valued at $44 million dollars.

  • Represented seller of corporate assets and designated tax advantaged distributions to Shareholders by use of Charitable Remainder Unit Trust; with an asset sale valued at $20 million dollars.

  • Represented developer of residential townhomes in purchase of land and property tax appeals; with a $9 million transaction value.

  • Represented personal representative in probate of large estate involving multiple jurisdictions.
