Before joining MK, Justine honed her litigation skills at a boutique Minneapolis firm where she handled a wide range of civil matters, including commercial lease disputes, surety bond claims, insurance coverage issues, employment matters, and construction disputes. She also has experience briefing and arguing precedential questions before the Minnesota Court of Appeals, giving her a nuanced understanding of appellate practice and persuasive legal writing.
Justine’s legal career began with a formative role as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Catherine A. Trevino of the 10th Judicial District in Chisago County, Minnesota. In that capacity, she assisted with legal research, opinion drafting, and case management—experience that enriched her appreciation for judicial perspective and sharpened her analytical skills. She also served as Managing Editor of the Mitchell Hamline Law Review, where she worked collaboratively with peers to guide and publish scholarly legal writing.
